This year marks, I believe, our tenth annual visit to the Omni Mt. Washington Hotel and Bretton Woods Resort. It's not that there aren't other options, it's just that it would be hard to match the combination of an upscale, luxurious, classic grand hotel with a terrific ski mountain right across the street, just a shuttle ride away. We stay in deluxe two-queen rooms and have all the amenities available. Dining options range from quick grab and go snacks and baked goods to fine dining in the main dining room or Bretton Arms Inn. Stickney's Restaurant, in the basement, and the Rosebrook bar tend to gather a lot of our members for dining and apres.
Of course, there's no predicting what sort of weather we'll run into in early January. We've had brutal cold, warm and foggy, snow on only a few runs, legitimate powder days, and, I must say, more than our fair share of fabulous conditions and bluebird days! Bretton Woods has about the best snowmaking and grooming you will find and, if there is skiable snow to be had they probably have it. Not enough of a challenge for you? Cannon is a short drive away. Other activities are available including cross-country skiing or snowshoeing out of the Nordic Center. North Conway is a fairly short, scenic drive away with lots of dining/shopping options. Take a swim or a hot tub or a swim in the outdoor pool or make a reservation at the on-site spa or, sit down and read a book while enjoying the mountain views.
The price for this trip remains $309 per person per double occupancy. We are in two-queen-bed rooms. Best if you find a roommate yourself, but I'll try to match. Lift tickets are taking a slight hike to $45 per day, max 3 per person (tickets will be good for 1 of 2 days, 2 of 3, 3 of 4 so you'll have some flexibility).
